- Create dedicated spaces for art classes and invest as much as you can in near-professional quality equipment.
- Provide flexible hours, increased salaries, and other organizational support, such as a liaison to other club staff, to the teaching artists.
- Try to avoid saddling teaching artists with too many club responsibilities that might take time away from their core work. Allow them to focus on teaching art, while still providing some opportunities for them to engage with others in the club.
- To help reduce tension between teaching artists and other club staff over disparities in salaries and club responsibilities, provide opportunities for staff and youth mentors to engage with the art and artists so they can experience the benefits of this themselves.
