Implementation Tips

Collection goals. Any data collected should be connected to one of four broad goals:

  • Informing system policies and practices
  • Supporting program partners
  • Improving student outcomes
  • Communicating with stakeholders

Data needs. At a minimum, intermediaries will need to collect attendance data at the student and program levels, as well as information on student characteristics.

Collection procedures. When developing step-by-step data collection procedures, organizations should put all procedures in writing, define key terms, and monitor how the procedures are being followed.
