Implementation Tips
States may want to consider the following strategies when seeking to apply the evidence base in support of strong summer programming:
- Provide support for policy implementation by offering funding, tools, and technical assistance that enable quality implementation
- Require, incentivize, and/or provide strong support for evidence-based design principles by integrating them into policies, mandates, and program planning tools.
- Make sure that policies and support allow for local implementers to have autonomy and flexibility in planning and implementation so that summer learning programs meet their communities’ needs and goals.
