In 2008, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance set out to double participation in the region’s cultural events by 2020. To help measure the progress of this initiative, the alliance created a “cultural engagement index” reflecting data from ongoing surveys of people’s involvement in 57 cultural activities.
