Research Approach
The goal of this paper was to provide a conceptual framing for research on collective impact in education through a review of relevant literature.
Researchers organized their findings in the following ways:
A set of parameters to describe local cross-sector collaborations for education
Relevant historical precursors and underpinnings. Researchers reviewed the literature defining collective impact and discussed the recent research on such initiatives.
The literature on organizational collaborations of various kinds, with attention to the question of why good intentions do not suffice. Researchers also reviewed the literature that zeroes in on the politics of local collaboration efforts and the core tensions that can lurk behind the veneer of cooperation.
