Implementation Tips

  • Afterschool programs should offer a variety of activities staffed by skilled leaders to provide a range of developmental supports and opportunities to children and youth.
  • For older children, a single program may not be the answer. Rather, policymakers might think about expanding the set of options available in a community.
  • Locating programs in schools where students have identifiable needs can help effectively target services.
