Jennifer Maimone-Medwick

General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Jennifer Maimone-Medwick joined The Wallace Foundation in 2024 as general counsel and corporate secretary. She is responsible for overseeing the governance and legal affairs of the foundation. She also supports the foundation’s efforts in public policy engagement. 

 

Maimone-Medwick came to Wallace from Goodwin Procter LLP, where as counsel in the tax-exempt organizations group she advised numerous tax-exempt organizations and for profits engaging in philanthropy on a wide range of issues. Prior to her role at Goodwin, she served as in-house counsel at two prominent foundations, The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust and the Simons Foundation. Before that she was a senior associate in the exempt organizations department at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, advising private foundations, public charities, and other tax-exempt organizations on a variety of legal, structural, and operational work, including investment matters. She also served on the firm’s Associate and Women’s Committees.

 

Maimone-Medwick holds a B.A. in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University (with concentrations in Health Policy & Management and Psychology) and a J.D. from Cornell Law School. She was a Note Editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy. She is admitted to the New York bar and is a member of the New York City and American Bar Associations. A regular speaker on topics affecting tax-exempt organizations, she has presented at the annual Georgetown conference on Representing & Managing Tax Exempt Organizations and the Practising Law Institute’s program on Advising Nonprofit Organizations, which she also co-chairs, among others. 

 

Maimone-Medwick is an avid sports fan (go Knicks!). When not cheering on her teams, she can be found planning her next travel adventure or (attempting) surfing.
