Gustavo Macias
Gustavo Macias joined The Wallace Foundation as an accountant in 2026. He focuses on general accounting, supports payroll and benefits, and serves as a key contributor to the full cycle of the foundation's accounts payable. He also ensures compliance with internal controls and works closely with vendors.
Macias has more than 10 years of accounting experience in the public accounting and nonprofit sectors. Most recently, he worked at Anthos Properties LLC, supporting accounting operations for a multi-property real estate portfolio. In that role, he managed full-cycle accounts payable, supported payroll processes, performed bank and mortgage reconciliations, and assisted with monthly financial reporting.
Earlier in his career, he served as a senior tax accountant at CBIZ Marks Paneth, preparing and reviewing tax filings for private companies, nonprofit organizations, and high-net-worth individuals while managing and mentoring junior staff. He then worked his way up to a semi-senior accounting position at Dorfman Abram Music CPA, focusing on audits for nonprofit organizations, preparing Form 990 filings, and performing financial statement testing. He also gained experience at SW Financial Services, preparing federal and state tax returns and providing tax planning support.
Gustavo earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The Bernard M. Baruch College, with a minor in English-to-Spanish translation, and an Associate degree in Business and Administration from Rockland College. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking with his family and sons and volunteers to support Spanish-speaking individuals learning English.
Part of what drew Gustavo to Wallace was the opportunity to apply his finance skills to help foster equity and improve learning and enrichment for young people. He has worked as a part-time accountant at Wallace several times since 2016 and is intimately familiar with the foundation’s teams, culture, and mission.
