Dan Weisberg

Chief Program and Policy Officer

Dan Weisberg joined The Wallace Foundation in June 2026 as chief program and policy officer. In this role, he leads the foundation’s Arts, Education Leadership, Youth Development, and Research units, while helping to advance integration across Wallace’s programmatic, research, and policy work in support of its mission and strategic priorities.

Prior to joining Wallace, Weisberg served as first deputy chancellor of New York City Public Schools, the largest school system in the United States. There, he oversaw key operational and strategic functions serving more than 900,000 students. He also led signature initiatives including NYC Reads, which contributed to the city’s largest one-year gain in proficiency; NYC Solves; and Future Ready NYC, which offered comprehensive career pathways to 20,000 high school students and helped increase attendance, grade point average, and college credits earned.

Previously, Weisberg was chief executive officer of TNTP, formerly The New Teacher Project, a national nonprofit focused on educational opportunity and systems change. At TNTP, he led a growth strategy that increased both revenue and the number of students impacted by 60 percent. He most recently served as executive in residence at A-Street Ventures, where he advised organizations on strategy, organizational effectiveness, and leadership. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his ability to lead complex organizations, build high-performing teams, and translate ambitious goals into strategy and impact.

Weisberg holds a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University and a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law. When not at work, you might find him playing pick-up basketball, reading U.S. history, or sharing a meal with his wife, Cynthia, and their two sons, Lucas and Charlie.
