
Brian O'Neil
Brian O'Neil is Wallace’s interim chief investment officer. He is responsible for managing all aspects of the foundation’s investment portfolio.
O’Neil was chief investment officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation from 2003 through his retirement in 2023. He was responsible for managing the foundation’s $13 billion investment portfolio and the 15-person investment team.
Before RWJF, O’Neil worked over more than two decades at the Equitable Life Assurance Society, where he held several different roles, including chief investment officer. In that role he was responsible for Equitable’s general account investment portfolio, as well as relationships with ratings agencies and investors. A stint at AXA in the mid-1990s took him to Paris where he was first the company's global head of asset liability and then its chief investment officer.
O'Neil is a trustee of the Brooklyn Public Library System. He received an MBA from the Columbia Graduate School of Business and a BA from Princeton University. He received the chartered financial analyst designation in 1983. O’Neil lives with his spouse in Brooklyn and has four children.
